CALLBOY MOERS
And there it is, towering into the sky next to Callboy Moers, not far from the Rhine: a huge miner's lamp.
Its name is "The Beacon." The artwork was created by Otto Piene, co-founder of the ZERO artists' group. Piene's passion for light art is also evident here.
The lamp's shape is reminiscent of a miner's lamp, making its vital light visible in the darkness. After visiting the County Museum in Moers Castle, we head to the old town. Our shopping tour takes us through narrow streets and a beautifully restored historic center. We then stop at one of the market squares for a relaxing break.
